All positions with Monarch are missionary positions requiring support building. While some senior positions receive grant support or support through internal fundraising, individual fundraising through donations to the camp is also necessary. Support raising gives people the opportunity to invest in you and the children you'll minister to, and it's a wonderful opportunity to see God provide!

Spiritual Growth Director

The Spiritual Growth Director is entrusted with fulfilling the purpose of One Hope Canada through building relationships, mentoring, and discipling campers and youth in the community on a year-round basis. This position assists the Ministry Director in leading the summer missionary team and requires someone with strong biblical knowledge, a heart for mentorship, and the ability to communicate God's love in relevant and impactful ways.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate daily devotional content and small group discussion materials for staff and campers
  • Provide one-on-one spiritual mentorship and guidance for staff members, supporting their personal faith journeys
  • Train staff during orientation on integrating faith naturally into daily camp activities and conversations
  • Organize prayer initiatives including staff prayer times and opportunities for campers to grow in their prayer life
  • Create a welcoming space for campers to ask questions, explore faith, and make personal commitments to Christ
  • Work with and report to the Ministry Director and Ontario Field Director, with access to One Hope Canada's Ministry Resource Centre and network of 200+ year-round missionaries
  • Be available for pastoral care moments, providing support during difficult conversations or spiritual breakthroughs
  • Model authentic faith and servant leadership in all areas of camp life
Waterfront Director

The Waterfront Director oversees all waterfront safety, operations, and activities. Must be at least 18 years old and possess NLS Certification (including Standard First Aid and CPR). This senior staff position requires a mature, safety-conscious individual who loves the outdoors and is passionate about creating the safest possible environment for swimming and boating activities.

Responsibilities

  • Set and enforce safety standards for waterfront and boating activities
  • Manage free swim periods ensuring buddy system is implemented and regular lifeguard checks are conducted
  • Manage waterfront equipment: kayaks, SUPs, boats, and schedule guards for boating periods
  • Debrief after incidents/drills and conduct formal written reviews
  • Supervise campers, participate in all camp areas, and be a role model for campers and staff
Worship Director

The Worship Director oversees all music-related activities, from energetic camp songs throughout the day to meaningful worship music in Chapel. This senior staff position requires someone who is creative, passionate about music, and eager to create memorable worship experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and prepare songs for both fun camp activities and worship services
  • Prepare all materials including song sheets, posters, audio downloads, and ensure sound equipment is available
  • Lead staff training on camp songs during orientation to ensure all team members are familiar with repertoire
  • Teach songs to campers and lead engaging, energetic song times throughout each day
  • Mentor younger staff and be a positive role model for both campers and fellow staff members
Program Director

The Program Director oversees all camp programming including circle games, large group games, weekly themes, and team point tracking. This position requires someone with a creative and energetic mind who loves to play and can bring excitement and enthusiasm to every activity.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop engaging weekly themes that enhance the camp experience and connect to chapel messages
  • Create, prepare, and organize circle games and large group activities for various age groups and settings
  • Maintain and update the team points system, tracking scores and creating excitement around friendly competition
  • Lead high-energy all-camp games and activities with enthusiasm and clear instructions
  • Train staff on game rules, modifications, and facilitation techniques during staff orientation
  • Manage program supplies and equipment, ensuring materials are ready and accessible for activities
  • Adapt activities for different weather conditions and create backup indoor programming options
  • Bring creative energy to camp and serve as a positive role model for campers and staff
Drama Director

The Drama Director oversees all theatrical activities and productions at camp, bringing stories to life through creative expression. This position requires someone with imagination, theatrical experience, and the ability to inspire campers to perform and showcase their talents.

Responsibilities

  • Research and prepare drama materials, guiding campers to create plays or skits for parent presentations and video recordings
  • Lead drama as a structured activity, teaching performance skills and building confidence in young actors
  • Write and prepare creative skits for Chapel time that reinforce spiritual messages in engaging ways
  • Collaborate with campers in skit development, incorporating their ideas and creativity into performances
  • Create staff skits for entertainment and teaching moments throughout the week
  • Prepare and manage costumes, props, and materials needed for all productions and performances
  • Supervise campers and participate in all areas of camp, serving as a role model
Senior Staff

Senior Staff positions are designed for individuals with previous camp experience who are ready to take on greater responsibility and leadership. These roles bridge the gap between junior staff and directors, providing essential support in supervision, mentorship, and program delivery while modeling servant leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and guide younger staff members, helping them understand and excel in their camp roles
  • Mentor junior staff members, encouraging their personal and skill development throughout the summer
  • Ensure correct procedures and safety protocols are being followed by both staff and campers
  • Take a leadership role in camper discipline, addressing behaviors with grace and consistency
  • Lead skill-based activities and teaching moments, sharing expertise with campers and staff
  • Intentionally build meaningful relationships with both staff members and campers
  • Supervise campers and actively participate in all areas of camp life
  • Lead by example through servanthood, demonstrating Christ-like character in daily interactions
Junior Staff

Junior Staff play a vital role at camp, supporting senior staff in running activities and assisting wherever needed. This position is perfect for those beginning their camp leadership journey, eager to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of campers.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior staff in running activities and assist wherever needed throughout the day
  • Participate actively and enthusiastically in all areas of camp life
  • Take on a big brother/sister role, coming alongside campers to ensure their enjoyment and full involvement
  • Support campers in being successful, helping them feel confident and capable in all activities
  • Work under the leadership of senior staff, being willing and eager to accept redirection and fine-tuning
  • Take a backseat role in camper discipline, learning effective approaches through observation
  • Build positive relationships with campers, creating a safe and fun camp environment
  • Embrace a learner's mindset, growing in skills and leadership throughout the summer
Lifeguard and Swim Instructor

Lifeguards and Swim Instructors are essential members of the Waterfront Safety Team, working under the leadership of the Waterfront Director. This position requires individuals who are at least 16 years old with Bronze Cross certification or higher (preferably NLS) and Swim Instructor certification.
 
Responsibilities

  • Serve as an active member of the Waterfront Safety Team under the Waterfront Director's leadership
  • Supervise campers and staff in the water and on the beach during free swim and boating activities
  • Provide instruction on proper operation of kayaks and stand-up paddle boards
  • Evaluate camper skill levels for safety purposes and determine appropriate teaching levels for swim lessons
  • Instruct campers in LifeSaving Society swim lessons with clear, effective teaching methods
  • Complete report cards and communicate camper progress and skills to parents
  • Maintain vigilant supervision and respond appropriately to any water safety situations
  • Participate in all areas of camp life beyond waterfront duties
